Cutting of smaller sections from larger sizes is a common task in sheet metal distribution. High material costs and expensive handling require optimization of plate cutting together with a reduction of remnants.

To automate a cut, the inventory control computer KASTOlvr can be equipped with a plate optimization software: it nests the cut jobs optimally into the available raw plate to maximize yield while minimizing scrap. If the operator accepts the displayed optimization result, the raw plates or remnants are automatically delivered. To make work easier, the operator receives cutting lists with graphical display. Order data can be directly transferred to NC-controlled plate saws. After saw order is finished, the remnant plate is restored and data is updated.
